Saint Juana necklace

In folk traditions and *botánicas* (spiritual supply shops), the "Santa Juana" necklace is made from the seeds of the plant known as *Coix lacryma-jobi*—commonly referred to as "lágrima de San Pedro" (St. Peter's tear) or "semilla de Santa Juana"—and is worn as an amulet to ward off negative energy. Meaning and Use: Although sold in esoteric shops and Santería *botánicas*, the use of these seeds strung on cords or necklaces stems from a tradition of folk amulets for protection and good luck, rather than being an *eleke* (a consecrated necklace dedicated to a major Orisha). Purpose: It is believed to offer protection against envy and spiritual harm, as well as defense against the adversities of daily life.
