Atipa Erufo Made and Consecrated in Nigeria

In ancient times, elders used long, thin poles to carry corpses from one village to another.
The poles used to make Atipa are selected from the poles because they must be poles used to carry a corpse that had died of old age in life. Not just anyone can make Atipa (Erufo), as it is the Egúngún priest who, through songs and prayers, selects the poles that will form the Atipa, which will then be assembled and consecrated.

Finally, it can be used for the purposes mentioned in this text. Atipa or Erufo cannot be assembled by just anyone, nor should any similar material be used in its construction.
